COLORADO SPRINGS -- Tens of hundreds of individuals fled the neighborhoods north and west of Colorado Springs after the Waldo Canyon fireplace unleashed waves of flames past due Tuesday afternoon.

Witnesses flooded the web on Twitter, describing the scene as "an apocalypse" and "terrifying" and posting footage of the town wrapped in a sinister orange and black cloud.

Jared Baker had to come again to his Rockrimmon house to fetch his mom and grandmother, who do not pressure and are on oxygen. Police instructed him he needed to wait because the flow of evacuees drove by on the intersection of Woodmen Highway and company Center.
